Diploma in Marine Electrical Engineering Technology

The Diploma in Marine Electrical Engineering Technology at Polytechnic’s Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia is designed to cover the current wide discipline of marine electrical engineering technology knowledge and practices. It emphasizes three (3) operational levels which are on the electrical, electronic and control, maintenance and repair, and controlling the operation of the ship and care for persons on board. This programme also include basic mechanical engineering knowledge and entrepreneurship. The programme is conducted for six semesters which include practical training in the final semester. This programme covers the minimum standard of competence for Electro-Technical officers (ETO) Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) for seafarers, 1978 Code Table A-111/6.

This programme provides the knowledge and skills in Marine Electrical Engineering Technology field that can be applied to a broad range of careers in Marine Electrical Engineering Technology. Graduates in Diploma in Marine Electrical Engineering Technology with relevant Certificate of Competency (CoC) are able to work as: - Electro-Technical Officer - Electrical Technical Executive - Marine Officer in Marine Department - Petty Officer Navy - Petty Officer Maritime/Coast Guard - Assistance Engineer in government sector - Lecturer in Maritime Institution - Assistance Engineer in Shipyard, Heavy Industry and Power Plants - Assistance Electrical Engineer - Offshore Electrician - Services Technician - Marine Electrical Equipment Sales Representative - Entrepreneur
